Dallas center Mike Modano, who played for the U.S. at the 1998 and 2002 Winter Games, was named captain of the American team that will compete in the world championship in Austria. St. Louis' Doug Weight, Minnesota's Richard Park and Los Angeles' Aaron Miller were named alternate captains.
